Studio Techniques for the Plein-Air Painter
If you've ever wondered what to do with those plein-air paintings once you get them home, if there's a way to complete them either with or without the use of a photograph, then this workshop is for you. In three intensive days you will learn about how to turn those nice little sketches into more finished, evolved works without losing the freshness that you loved in the first place. Scumbling, mixing for color harmony, and brushwork will all be covered extensively, as well as the philosophy of fine art- the single most important factor in an artist's success. Even studio artists will enjoy learning to inject a bit of the outdoors into their work in this fun and insightful workshop. To sign up, please visit www.artworksworkshops.com. Cost is $350.

Monday, April 19- Friday, April 23
Plein-Air painting on the Gulf Coast of Orange Beach, Alabama

Fun in the Sun

Come to the charming resort destination of Orange Beach, Alabama for five days of painting the glorious beauty of the beaches, swamps, rivers, and even everglades of coastal Alabama. If you've joined me in Baton Rouge or Jackson before, you know what you're in for. If not, come and join your friends and make some new ones on this week-long painting retreat for plein-air experts and aspiring plein-air experts alike. We'll all throw in for food and take turns cooking, and we'll paint while the light is good all week long. When the light fades, you know the drill: drinks and stories as late as you can stand it. When you wake up in the morning, I'll already be painting.

Price: $600
Accommodations are INCLUDED for the first eight attendees at a roomy and upscale condo.
Let me know if you're interested ASAP... space will be limited by necessity. Call David at (805) 241-4084 or email me via the contact link to the left of this page.
